Experience
I graduated magna cum laude from Catawba College, where I received a degree in elementary education, with minors in both English and Spanish. I have taught in the classroom for two years, as a third and fifth grade teacher. Furthermore, I have tutored in writing, Spanish, and English for three and a half years. I believe that a teacher should be challenging, while presenting engaging information that encourages students to overachieve. I want my students to go beyond their expectations and discover their full potential.I believe in building relationships with my students, which I do through positive reinforcement. Not only do I teach, but I mentor students as well, helping them develop life skills. I worked at a church camp as a summer counselor for the last five summers, where I helped students professionally grow and develop.I realized how much I loved helping empower others through education while I was on a trip to Ecuador, where I taught a group of children how to count to ten in English. The look of pride and accomplishment on their faces was enough to spark my passion in teaching. When I am not teaching and volunteering, I love playing songs on the piano. I also enjoy being outside and around nature, where I can go kayaking or hike mountains.
